Hello, Purchased a Blue Snowball Microphone, and it seems like everything's correctly plugged and all.

Afro cuban grooves for bass and drums. First off, I plugged it in and it installs a driver and the red light shows. But it doesn't work I go to Device Management and it shows a 'Yellow Symbol' meaning a Window's Error I did a troubleshoot and it showed it as a driver issue. But I'm not exactly sure if that's the case.

What I did is uninstall it, unplugged it and plugged it back in and it still not working. I know for a fact the it might be the USB 2.0 problem. Well the thing is that I plugged it in the back of my computer and it should be 2.0 so I tried many different strategies. Still no luck of the research I did for hours, wonder if I could be provided with assistance. Using Windows 8, I dout this is the case since it has work on alot of Window's 8 users. It's not the USB either, I changed the USB from the one that came with it to another one which I purchased. No solution solved by that.

+ that USB I purchased was $20 which was pretty expensive. Please if support could be provided for this Topic, It would be greatly appreciated. Here's a photo on the problem, Look at 'Blue Snowball' beside it there's a Yellow Icon.

Is the Snowball compatible with Windows 8, Windows 7, and Vista? Yes, Snowball is currently Windows 8, Windows 7 and Vista compatible.

Older Snowballs manufactured from July 2007 to January 2009 with serial numbers lower than 76-065000 are not Windows 8, Windows 7 or Vista compatible. (Snowballs manufactured after January 2009 do not have serial numbers.) Snowball is plug-and-play and does not require drivers. Now Blue said the mic is compatible but the says it is not compatible with Windows 8 and other people's comments seem to indicate that. Is the model number shown on the page the same as yours? Right click on the Blue Mic in Device Manager. Select Properties. What error is displayed.

Under the details tab, select hardware ID's in the Dropdown box. Copy and Paste the first line in your next post.

Can't make any promises we can fix this. I don't think this is your issue but in the support site of Blue it said this. Is the serial number on the mic higher than 76-065000? Is the Snowball compatible with Windows 8, Windows 7, and Vista?

Well, I put that code in PCIdatabase.com and nothing showed up. I then Googled it and the only thing that came up was. If the mic has a serial number that is above the one I posted or is a late model that is supposed to have Win8 support because some people have success with it and others do not I only have this to throw out. Have you tried this mic on another computer? It may be that the USB ports on your computer are not giving the necessary power that the mic is drawing. Two possible solutions and I can't say if they will work or not. Purchase a with the correct plug if the mic has a detachable USB cable.

Plugging the TypeA plugs into two USB 2 ports would supply the necessary power. The other option is to purchase a and attach the USB cable from the mic to that. Other than that I am out of ideas, sorry. You may get more help contacting Blue's support site if you haven't already. Well, I put that code in PCIdatabase.com and nothing showed up. I even bought a new USB and its still the same it must be the drivers since when I do a troubleshoot it says Driver problem! I am pretty sure it's a driver compatibility problem with Windows 8.

On my previous post. Snowballs manufactured after January 2009 do not have serial numbers. This must be a mic made before jan 2009 so maybe it's one not compatible with the native USB drivers of Windows 8. Installing a new USB card would not help as that would still be using the native USB drivers of Win8. If you can find an XP computer and it installs okay, then you know it's a compatibility problem with the Windows 8 USB drivers. Update, on all the information provided at the same time I think this mic should work on my computer.

Since this Blue Snowball I have worked on many people's Windows 8 computer and all I have is a Driver issue. If this could be fixed maybe that's the cause.

Blue Snowball Mic

I dout it has anything to do on the USB itself. Thanks, hopefully someone could help me with the situation. I purchased the Microphone and there is no refunds! And there must be a way to get it to work. Instead of saying 'Buy a new one' or 'It won't work' this is a Plug & play mic shouldn't be a hassle.

Hello, I have a Blue Snowball USB microphone that worked fine in Windows 7 (entirely Plug-n-play, no drivers needed), that no longer functions in Windows 10. I'm at work right now, but I will update the post with specifics once I'm home.

The following is what I know about the problem: Upon plugging in the microphone, the red light comes on the body of the mic as it does when it is receiving power and ready to record. I hear the notification of a device being plugged in, and then nothing else happens. When I check device manager, 'Blue Snowball Microphone' shows up in unknown devices, but windows doesn't know what driver to apply to it I suppose. I went to the event viewer to see what was happening when I plugged it in, and it apparently invokes pnpui (I believe, this is based off my memory, I will update if I'm wrong) and then does nothing else. I was curious and plugged in an old usb webcam in order to get some sort of mic working, but the webcam's microphone didn't work, only the camera part.

So I could see myself, but the audio part never left the unidentifiable hell in device manager. I have tried updating the system and all the drivers that I'm aware of, but to no avail. Any thoughts or suggestions on how to move forward?

Let me know if you need any more information. I had the same issue. My problem was due to conflicting 'Audio Managers'.

I had (have) 3 seperate audio inputs (microphones). Motherboard, USB Headset and the Mic in my video cam. All three managers were fighting for the same resource (microphone), and poor baby Win10 just throws up it's ittty-bitty hands and says: '.?' Solution (your milage may vary): Disable all the Audio Input devices (via device manager tool). Then just re-enable the ONE audio input device that you want to use. CHeers, Hope this helps someone. Motherboard, USB Headset and the Mic in my video cam.

All three managers were fighting for the same resource (microphone) After 10 days of searching for a solution this finally got me pretty close to my problem (which is now resolved). We all share the same issue with different error messages, hopefully my solution is helpful. I had a laptop and desktop with the same issue which have both been resolved. Laptop was upgraded from Windows 8.2 and the Desktop from Windows 7, both to Windows 10. My Blue BabyBottle stopped working on my desktop but worked on my laptop.

My Blue USB SnowBall (Plug-N-Play) stopped working on both the Laptop/Desktop. Here's what I tried and what I did to fix the issue: As the quote states from Johnny Gringo, I too had multiple recording devices.

I tried disabling all recording devices in Device Manager, rebooted my system, and still was not able to find the mic at all. Not even under unidentifiable. After re-enabling all my devices in Device Manager, I right-clicked on the speaker in the Task Manager (Bottom Right by the clock) and opened Recording Devices. While the Blue Snowball was disconnected, I disabled all the devices in Recording Devices (For me it was 'Stereo Mix', 'External Mic at left side', and 'Microphone' on my Laptop; 'Stereo Mix', 'External Mic', 'Camera Microphone', and 'Blue BabyBottle' on my Desktop).

I then restarted my PC's and while all recording devices were still disabled, I connected the Blue Snowball Microphone and BINGO! It showed up under Recording Devices, NEVER NEEDED TO INSTALL ANYTHING. I hope this will help some of you with this problem. This frustrated me for some time now but now I can resume all of my projects. Thanks to Johnny Gringo for pointing me in the right direction!.NOTE: I will say that after attempting to switch mics and disabling the Snowball, same issue came back, but following what I did above, still brings the mic back without the need to reboot.

Just disable all devices without the snowball connected, plug and play. I had this same issue, but I quickly resolved it. Follow the steps below: 1. Head to your sound icon on your taskbar mini-icons, which you open the arrow pointing up to get there. Now right click it and click 'Recording devices' 3.

From there, you should see your Blue Snowball device registered and on the list. If it says USB device or something other than that, then you need to try and troubleshoot the connection issue. Now, select the connected Blue Snowball microphone on the list, and look down at the set default button. There, you should be able to use the microphone without worry:) If you have resolved the issue using my statement, please like this so more people find it.
