Pftrack Trial

Hi there people, i downloaded three program's, Boujou 4, Syntheyes en PFtrack (all PLE) filled in all my camera specs (focal length and chipsize (filmback)) shot some freemotion shots (1280 x 720) without motionblur on a steadycam. Boujou 4 en PFTrack 5 do a great job on the 2d tracking: Fast, accurate while Syntheyes is a bit lacking on this part BUT: When it comes to solving; Boujou takes 'AGES' to solve and it is not really accurate anymore, pftrack failes in the middle but syntheyes does a great job!
Is this familiar to you? Do you recognize this? Why pay USD 10.000 while syntheyes gives better results? Or is it just 'luck' Thanks, Giso Posts: 8 Joined:, 3:17 am.
I am no expert when it comes to motion tracking by any means, i still havent figured it all out, but i do know that boujou is very powerful if used right. They have used it in many films so i mean its very powerful, i think you just really have to know how to set everything up right and really get technical to see the real results it can produce.
Because i dont know how to 'really' use it i think i am going to buy this dvd: because i really want to learn how to use boujou professionally and get the amazing results i know it can produce. I've heard that the other matchmoving programs, syntheyes and PFftrack are really good too, but from what i understand, boujou is the the most popular one as far as working in a studio with motion tracking.so yeah i want to learn it and prepare myself for what i will probly encounter in a studio. Hi, I have been using Syntheyes for a while now. I find that Boujou tracks fast but solving takes ages -which is what we want in the end! Syntheyes takes its time tracking but gives solves faster. If you have access to both, always go for Syntheyes. It is easy to handle, loads of tutorials on Syntheyes website and has auto coordinates- so you don't have to invert z to y or y to z axis if you have to use 3dmax or maya or any other weird 'z' up or y up coordinate systems.
SYNTHEYES cost $500 Boujou costs $ 10,000 - Yes ten thousand bucks! They are insane! Posts: 27 Joined:, 5:07 am.
Hey, I don't condone piracy and have never ever (Yes hard to believe - but true!) used pirated software. Viacomm guys demoed Boujou 4 on 10 of our footage but we found syntheyes (which we had purchased 6 months back ) was better. I have gathered enough knowledge from friends and industry guys to categorically state that Boujou is NOT BETTER THAN Syntheyes -just way, way expensive - not worth it. I can't comment on Boujou 5 because no one I know has used it till date. Any comments on Boujou 5 VS Syntheyes? Posts: 27 Joined:, 5:07 am. Over the last year ive had the pleasure of working with all 3 programs extensively they all 3 have there own pros.

And sometimes cons. Syntheyes works better with interior shots (also way faster than any of the other softwares) boujou works really well on out door shots. (nature) pftrack works well on small complicated shots and has a good coordinates system im going to do a in depth comparison of each the trackers strengths and weakness's soon Posts: 640 Joined: 08/1/2008, 6:09 pm Location: Southern Cali.
