Please support us in our efforts to preserve these tables and join the indelible part of Americana that is pinball! I have purchased seasons 1 through 6. I play lots of the classic pinball games from the 70s and 80s since I played them in real life. The graphics are great. However, I find the games sorely lack in user control features. For example, the games I play only give 3 balls per game.
When I played these games in real life, I always got 5 balls per game going into the 90s. Some of the games do not have a pro feature to give you that option. And with the pro options, it is not easy to find the 5 ball settings. I pay alot of money for these games. I should not have to be limited in the play experience or have to hunt for this feature. Would it really kill Farsight to add this feature in ALL of their tables in the options menu?
Also, game play is WAYYYYY TOOO QUICK!!! The ball is highly attracted to going down the sides or down the drain much too quickly, which leads to squandered balls, and squandered games. This is caused because of too much slingshot strength and pop-bumper strength.
Combine this with 3-ball play, and you will know what i mean with the classic 70s and 80s pinball tables. This is what I play the most. Would it kill Farsight to add some features from the options menu to allow the user to set the following for the tables: table tilt Size of flipper length - small/medium/large Number of balls: 3 or 5 Replay option: free ball/free game Flipper strength Pop Bumper Strength Slingshot strength I am a paying customer of seasons 1 through 6, supporting farsight.
And i have bought these matters to farsight some time ago. I have yet to see any of these features implemented, which makes me upset when i play these games. I wont buy another season of pinball until i see movement in addressing these areas. Latest: still having the issue of the corners of the iPhone not working well AT ALL in pushing the buttons BUT I have found it equally annoying that over the passed couple months, it CONSTANTLY erases all of my high scores on my games.
It is still registered in the Gamecenter as to what I scored all time but on the app itself, I will play one day and score really high, then the next day I will score something else lower and am no longer surprised to see that it says you have the new Master Magician score and all the others are gone from previous days. Before this issue, I had the same high scores for years without change on the app. I don’t know if it is an IOS update issue or an app update issue but suddenly since the last round of updates, the corners of the phone (iPhone 8 plus) aren’t really working. #1 The pause button in the upper right doesn’t work very good at all. I find myself trying to pause a game in the middle of a ball and it won’t work so I lose a ball. It has to be touched just right, even then it takes a few attempts. The bottom right plunger is the same way.
Any game that is a button instead of a plunger, it takes many attempts to get it to work. MOST IMPORTANTLY the flippers both left and right have stopped working in the corners.which is where it has always been before.
I have lost many games and balls because I go to push the flipper in the usual area and it doesn’t work. The new location has my thumbs covering up the actual flippers themselves so I can’t even see the ball when it rolls down to know when exactly i need to hit it. Other that that, it is my favorite app by far. Hopefully this gets fixed. Pinball Arcade is a decent pinball app.
It's a good alternative to hunting down a specific table or emptying your wallet at the local arcade. The gameplay feels decent even if the ball physics feel off at times. However it's issues and pricing are what hold it back the most. First, the pricing. All of the tables are 5 bucks a pop, which doesn't seem too bad at first, but when compared to Zen pinball, which have better looking tables and only run 1-3 bucks.
It's not too big of an issue, but it's definitely a deal breaker for some. You can play all the tables for free, but you can't go past a certain score, and after you're done you get a forced ad. Of course this doesn't pop up on tables you've bought, but Free Trials definitely could've been handled better. Next is graphical and sound quality. The graphics don't look bad by any means, but they could definitely be better. The sound quality however, just sounds straight up outdated, kind of like listening through a cheap pair of earbuds. Overall, Pinball Arcade definitely has the nostalgia part down right, but it's monetization and sound quality could definitely use some work.
If you're looking for something more modern like Zen Pinball, this probably isn't for you If you're looking for the tables you used to play in your childhood, you've come to the right place. PS: being able to have custom balls by pasting on a picture from your photo library would be a pretty cool feature. Apps. Antivirus. Art & Design.
